Opposition's Speed Bowling Means a Draw for Webber's Year 8 Rounders Team

Match Review By: Mrs Katie Willis
Tuesday 22nd May 2018

As our Year 8 rounders team took to the field, the sun kept shining for the beginning of what was a competitively played and interesting rounders triangle match.

Our girls started off with some exceptional fielding showing Radcliffe what great teamwork looks like, with Jaanvi, Samantha, Jaydie and Amaya displaying accurate throwing and catching skills. The team's fielding mastery caught four batters out at the second post as Samantha’s lighting fast reactions left Radcliffe in disbelief. The girls also demonstrated that their batting skills were on form with Jaanvi scoring two and a half rounders in three bats, and Jaydie gaining one and a half, delivering a strong win in the game against Radcliffe.

Our next match in the triangular rounders game was against Denbigh. Once again, our outstanding fielding prevented our opponents from scoring more than two rounders in their entire innings, with the girls using their advanced teamwork and game tactics to get five of Denbigh's batters out. It was then the turn of our Year 8 girls to step up and show their batting skills. Sophie was our top scorer in the second game with one and a half rounders, however, Denbigh's fantastic speed bowler meant the challenge to replicate our success from our first match wasn't on the cards for tonight. The match ended as a Draw - it was another excellent performance, and great practice before Thursday's tournament.

Well done to Jaydie, Sophie, Samantha, Amaya, Jaanvi, Lila, Lauren, Ruby and our Year 7 Ella.
