¿Qué le duele? by Some Rather Crazy Year 9s in Spanish

Trip to the Safety Centre - Hazard Alley

Year 3/4 visited the Safety Centre and learnt all about safety and hazards both in the home and outside.

They learnt how to perform basic First Aid and what to do in an emergency. The children were put to the test when they had to make emergency calls after witnessing a number of accident scenarios.  It was a fantastic trip and they learnt a lot.

Pet Project

Years 3 and 4 presented their information text titled Pet Project during the Key Stage 2 assembly this morning.

As part of the project, the children learnt to carry out research using books and the internet and found out a lot of information about pets. They structured the information that they had collected and put their ideas together in the form of a booklet.
Please feel free to pop in to have a look, you will be most welcome.

Ben Builds a Cardboard City at Milton Keynes Gallery

Year 8 are currently working on a project in Art to create Hundertwasser inspired cardboard buildings. A few weeks ago Ben Elston went on a workshop at Milton Keynes Gallery run by local artist Aaron Head. With other students, Ben helped to create a sprawling cardboard metropolis. Ben got the chance to build ‘big and bold’ by creatively re-using a variety of cardboard boxes and sculptural techniques.

Over the course of the day Ben's cathedral was part of a dizzying maze of tunnels, bridges and towers that emerged and spread across the room. As a culmination of the workshop participants ‘activated’ their city with the clever use of lights and torches to create shadows and depth.

Ben said that he thought it was a fascinating day and gave him lots of ideas for his own cardboard construction at school. Examples of the finished houses by Year 8 will be posted on the blog after Easter.

Comic Relief Fundraising Week

The Webber Independent School will be supporting 'Comic Relief' on March 15th and the Sixth Form are leading the school in a Comic Relief Fundraising Week. We aim to achieve as much success if not more as the last fundraising event (Pink Week) where we managed to raise £400! We hope to involve the whole school community in this series of events.

Comic Relief is a major charity based in the UK that strives to create a just world free from poverty. Their mission is to drive positive change through the power of entertainment. They raise millions of pounds through two big fundraising campaigns: Red Nose Day and Sport Relief. They spend that money in the best possible way to tackle the root causes of poverty and social injustice, also using the power of their brand to raise awareness of the issues.

Comic Relief Red Noses will be sold throughout the week Monday 11th – Friday 15th March during form time and in the foyer for a suggested donation of £1.50.

During the week from 11th Mar…
